I graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science, Major in Biochemistry and again in 2010 with an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences.

Then I left home (for the first time) to attend medical school at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. It was certainly an exciting adventure! Constant learning, challenges, and meeting great people motivated me towards a most rewarding goal.

I’m happy to share that I am now working as Dr. Nguy and continuing to learn and build on the foundation laid over the past years. And yes, I’m still in Australia!

I apologize that my blog is so far behind! It is my goal to catch up within this year. As I use my blog as a journal, I will be updating on events in chronological order as soon as I can.

In exciting news, the reason why I’ve fallen so far behind are many! Long work hours and tired after coming home, marrying my best friend and love on May 14, 2016, then quickly falling pregnant and now mummy to our gorgeous daughter Laurel Linh Xuan Brown (born Feb 16, 2017). I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

Other than that, sleeping is my favourite hobby (don’t get much these days). Traveling is a privilege I am most grateful to continuously experience. I take great delight in food and am easily lost in the beauty and serenity of nature. I love photography and the visual arts but wish I had more time to develop whatever little skills I might have. Music plays my story, reading is my pleasure and writing is my getaway. If I had to lose one of my 5 senses, I would choose to lose my sense of touch. I believe works of fiction are not solely from our imagination and creation but are all events inspired by our past, present and future. Raised a Catholic, I believe in God, although I understand frustrations with the institution of religion. Family and friends are a constant in my life; they have shaped who I am today.

Hi! Loved your blog, hope you re doing well! I came across it while searching for something about the MCCEE! I just gave it myself in March 2015 with an OK score, wasn’t too happy for it. Good to see another IMG on the same road! Also currently an intern like you 😀 We should get in touch, its nice to know someone else with the Canadian dream for residency! haha 🙂

Hi Marya! Thank you for dropping by and saying hello! How are things going with your goal of getting back to Canada? Shortly after writing my MCCEE, my partner (who’s also Canadian) and I decided that we wanted to stay and train in Australia – haven’t regretted our decision yet! 😉

Hi! I came across your blog randomly and felt an instant connection! I lived in Brisbane for 4 years while my husband was going through med school at UQ, and I even picked up a Master’s (in speech pathology) along the way! We’re now in Adelaide, where he was offered an intern position. If there’s anything you’d like to ask about re: internships…or just anything…feel free!

Hi Leana! So happy we’ve connected, thank you for visiting! Looking forward to reading your blog and about your adventures! I’m sure there are questions I’d love to ask you when the time comes! 😉
